Thanks, but that hasn't made a difference that I can see. <Alt-x> still
functions as M-x but <Alt-Right/Left/Up/Down> bring up a message saying they're
undefined,.
I should have said, this is under
GNU Emacs 22.1.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.12.0) of 2007-11-06 on
terranova, modified by Ubuntu
