Two quick suggestions, neither of which does exactly what you want (I'm
sure others will chime in):
1. use =org-goto= followed by =org-narrow-to-subtree=.
2. use a custom agenda view and either tag or categorise all your
projects and sub-projects.
Neither of these gives you a separate indirect buffer but may make
access easier.
