I only switched over to using org-bibtex about 4 weeks ago, so I have not yet perfected my workflow. However, I will try to give you some idea of what has worked best for me thus far. I am rather busy for the next couple of days, so I do not have the time to put together an example file etc. right now, but hopefully I will have a bit of time this  weekend.
