Hi,
I'm thinking of translating Enigma 1.1 into Greek. Is it possible? If
so, which is the procedure?
Greets,
Alexandros
Hi, Alexandros.
It isn't so hard. Just follow some next steps:
1. Download editor for .po files (this files contain strings to
translate and translated strings). One of such editors can be downloaded
from http://www.poedit.net/download.php.
2. Download one of .po files from SVN (
https://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/enigma-game/trunk/po/ ).
3. Rename it on your local computer to Greek language abbreviation (wiki
say that it is one of: el, gre, or ell). Your file name should be
something like el.po.
4. Edit your .po files with editor for .po files. Just open file and
edit right column's strings. Left - English, right - Greek. It's easy.
5. When finish, send it to this mailing list.
First and most important: yes our fonts used in Enigma do support Greek
characters :-)
The language/country code is "el-GR". The file needs to be named "el.po".
You find further hints in previous postings on this list, e.g.
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/enigma-devel/2006-10/msg00031.html
Please start with a up to date po-File as of the development trunk.
Whatever tools you use make sure you stick to utf-8 encoding.
Start with the menus and translate the levels afterwards. Send the po
file directly to me when it reasonably complete.
Thanks for any additional translation,
Ronald
