I've uploaded the changes. Pruning with the interval class doesn't quite 
work as well as I'd hoped (see attached file), I suspect due to round-off 
in the function interval::contains, which decides whether a numerical 
value lies in the interval.

I'll work on the interval class today, but have no plans to work on data 
plotting code.
