Hi Gunnar,

I just replied to your post at c.t.t with a few links to samples. Some 
of the source files are attached to this message. :)

If you want simple line figures or shaded surfaces without too many 
on-surface markings, that's no problem. In general, the process isn't 
quite as painless as it should be. The idea is to divide the scene into 
visual layers (the back half of the surface, the longitudinal plane 
containing coordinate axes and the profile curve, the front half of the 
surface, any overall labels, etc.) and to layer these pieces manually in 
the input file.

Please ask if you have trouble getting the effect(s) you want.
