[ePiX-users] New unstable release (Version 1.1.3) |
Date: |

FEATURES
epix-1.1.x implements ePiX-2's color capabilities, including named models
(RGB, CMY, CMYK, and Gray), color blending, filtering, CMYK separation,
limited transparency, as well as color filling and colorable arrows in
eepic, decorable screens, and page markup. The user syntax is similar to
Version 1.0.x, and should be backward compatible. The global parameters
x_min, etc., should be replaced with function calls, e.g. xmin(), from now
on.
This is the first release from the 1.1.x source tree suitable for general
testing. It is not a stable release, however.
DOWNLOADING
Please see the "News" section on the project page for the link to the
source package. Sample files are a separate download.

NOTES
Files using many colors (e.g. shaded surfaces) will require up-to-date
dvips and pstricks, and probably hugelatex (latex with the maximum amount
of memory allocated). Use the "-H" or "--huge" options in elaps to invoke
hugelatex. The page
http://sysadmin.cs.caltech.edu/docs/help/software/hugetex
gives step-by-step instructions for installing hugelatex on your system.
epix-1.1.3 has been tested on GNU/Linux (gcc-3.3) and Mac OS X (Apple's
gcc-4.0). Some features are as-yet unimplemented or otherwise known not to
work perfectly. These include screen cropping with non-rectangular masks,
non-solid (dashed and dotted) lines, path clipping, spherical plotting,
and scattered errors when filling surface mesh elements. For the moment,
you must set the viewpoint with camera.at(P). The contrib package is
broken.
Please post to the list if you encounter problems not mentioned here.
