Details:

When querying the properties of a non-existing particle like
part 1 print pos
Es returns the string "na", which very likely results in a hard to debug error
later in the tcl script, when the value is used for calculation.
It would probably be better, if querying properties of non-existing particles
would result in a background error with meaningful message.
In addition, a command to theck for the existence of a particle could be
introduced like
if {[part 2 exists]}
...
