My time is valuable as well. I have gone over every conceivable iteration of
the pages you sent me as I tried to outline in my message. I have been involved
with unix for many years as well.
Please remove me from the fhsst program. I don't need your attitude!
I hope you don't treat all volunteers this way.

savannah.nongnu.org

You have several problems here.

1. None of
the savannah servers provide login shells for savannah users.
You,
therefore, can't use slogin.

2. The server you should be connecting to
for CVS is subversions.gnu.org.

3. subversions.gnu.org will not accept
password based authentication.
You must configure your local SSH to do key
based authentication. It
will normally do this by default /if/ your
private key is in the file
"~/.ssh/id_dsa" (note that ~ means "home" in
common shells. ~ might
equal "/home/jeff" on your system. If you are
unsure you can just do cd
~ to get there.).

Now, I hate to be the
crotchety old UNIX guy, but all of this stuff is
outlined very clearly on
those two pages I sent you links to previously.
PLEASE READ THEM. Once
you have read them, do what they say. If that
doesn't work, read them
again, and make sure you got each detail
precisely correct. It is in the
list archive in case you deleted it.

If it /still/ doesn't work, send me
a cut-and-paste of your login
attempt so that I'll have the best chance of
figuring out exactly what
the problem is.

As things stand now I feel
that you are putting a low value on my time
since you have clearly not even
attempted to follow the instructions in
those links I sent you. Once you
have made a sincere effort to help
yourself I will be more than happy to
assist you further.

-Peter
