Sounds very interesting. I thought that you could like to have a look of 
 the Sound of Our Water project - another project we have been working 
on in the research group. See:

I think there are similarities with your project. what do you think?

The Sound of Our Water is running on top of Zope. We are planning to 
release the code as a Zope product with the name "Hauki". Hauki is a 
product for building up a community web site with a simple audio sample 
and piece collections and sharing functionality.

Actually in Italy some clever people have already hooked together Plone
