Perhaps John Hall should comment on this. I know that he and his
collaborators are developing with Windows using Pooma 2. I believe it is
possible to install gmake and other tools/utilities under Windows to make it
emulate a Unix environment. However, most people who work in a Windows
environment probably want to take advantage of an IDE.
