Hi,
Some of you may have spotted that we were next-bay-but-one to LPI at
Birmingham. What do you think AFFS should do in relation to them?
Should we assist them in the UK, ignore them, commit to developing our
own stuff, or do something else?
Some interesting (to me, anyway) points:-
- distribution-neutral (but not -independent... you need to see dpkg
and rpm a little at least)
- follows published standards like LSB when possible
- does assume Linux kernel, so I guess the name is accurateish
- offers reduced rate exam labs at some shows
- doesn't seem to have qualification conversion or any exemption
options just now
- only does certification on free software and "actively advocates
its use"
- seems to be slowly moving towards "FLOSS" jargon
- working on a GPL'd testing platform
- is interested in a UK affiliate/presence, but I don't know what
that means exactly
- not looked at their doc licensing yet ;-)
Comments on-list if you want them public, or to address@hidden if you
want to be secretive. If you have questions, I (or someone else
maybe, subject to holidays and work...) will answer or try to get
answers for you. I now return you to the swpat tactics discussion...
