Each manual comes with an Emacs Reference Card Version 24.5, which can also be purchased separately. Also, there are a few copies of Emacs Manual Version 24.2, which has now been reduced to $35. * ### Make your site LibreJS-friendly and HTML5-valid with rel=jslicense attribute *From August 17th* With Microformats.org listing the jslicense rel attribute value as a proposed HTML5 link type extension, sites can now have LibreJS-friendly links to JavaScript License Web Labels pages without throwing HTML5 validation errors. * ### Celebrate your freedom on Software Freedom Day On Saturday, September 19th, free software activists worldwide will come together to help their communities understand software freedom. [Check the map](http://softwarefreedomday.org/map/) to find out if there are any events near you, or start a team to organize a local event. This is a great opportunity to learn and share knowledge about free software and how it plays a role in your community! * ### GNOME announces search for executive director *From GNOME, August 8th* The GNOME Foundation is looking for qualified candidates for the position of executive director of the GNOME Foundation. The executive director is critical for the Foundation, the public face of GNOME, the liaison to the GNOME Advisory Board, and the primary fundraiser for the Foundation. * ### The state of federation *From Jessica Tallon of MediaGoblin, August 3rd* It’s been a [long time](http://mediagoblin.org/news/pump-api-progress.html) since there has been any news on the state of federation, so here’s an update on where MediaGoblin’s at and some technical aspects of federation. We’ve been working with the [W3C Social Working Group](https://www.w3.org/Social/WG) to define the future of federation, and part of my work there has been to work on the [ActivityPump](https://w3c-social.github.io/activitypump/) standard. * ### Happy 18th birthday GNOME *From August 3rd* On Friday, August 15, 1997, GNOME was founded by two then-university students, Miguel de Icaza and Federico Mena Quintero. Their aim: to produce a free (as in freedom) desktop environment that is beautiful and simple to use. In September, we will welcome the release of GNOME 3.18 which continues to embody those founding principles. * ### Interview with FSFE Fellow Neil McGovern *From FSFE, July 31st* Neil McGovern is a Fellow of the FSFE from the United Kingdom and was recently [elected](https://www.debian.org/vote/2015/vote_001) as [Debian Project Leader](https://www.debian.org/devel/leader), starting his term of office in April. He has previously participated in local government and has served on the board of the [Open Rights Group](https://www.openrightsgroup.org/): a digital rights organization operating in the UK. * ### Tor Project launches worldwide search for new executive director *From the Tor Project, July 7th* The Tor Project is pleased to open a worldwide search for our new executive director. Details here: * After this meeting, you can check to see the rest of this month's weekly meetings as they are scheduled. Tens of thousands of people visit directory.fsf.org each month to discover free software. Each entry in the Directory contains a wealth of useful information, from basic category and descriptions to version control, IRC channels, documentation, and licensing. The Free Software Directory has been a great resource to software users over the past decade, but it needs your help staying up-to-date with new and exciting free software projects. To help, join our weekly IRC meetings on Fridays. Meetings take place in the #fsf channel on irc.gnu.org, and usually include a handful of regulars as well as newcomers. Everyone's welcome. ### LibrePlanet featured resource: Save WiFi Every month on LibrePlanet, we highlight one resource that is interesting and useful -- often one that could use your help. For this month, we are highlighting Save WiFi, which provides information about the FCC considering a proposal to require manufacturers to lock down computing devices. You are invited to adopt, spread and improve this important resource. * Do you have a suggestion for next month's featured resource?
