Thanks Mark.I can't currently use Homebrew, since I use Macports for many pkgs on my system. From what I've read, using both on the same system can cause problems, so I've always avoided that.(I don't want to get into a war about Brew vs Ports either, as they can be as volatile as the Emacs vs Vim wars)I don't know why I didn't think of looking into Macports for a FORTH compiler last night, Ineed to stop installing things so late at night ;-)The Macports pkg database is offline at the moment, but will take a look there as well.(I'm waiting for Sierra to become more stable before upgrading, but hope to upgrade in the next few months.)Thanks for the heads up!On Tue, Oct 25, 2016 at 11:31 AM, Mark J. You should be able to install it via Homebrew (http://brew.sh) - after installing brew itself, just run `brew install gforth`.--On Tue, Oct 25, 2016 at 10:59 AM, <address@hidden> wrote:Tony, I cross posted this over to the address@hidden mailing list for you.
There are people watching, just not many issues I guess. 😉

Subject: [svfig] FORTH compiler for OSX- recommendations
Hello,
I've been lurking on this list for a while, reading bits and pieces.
Today, i downloaded the first issue of Byte that talked about FORTH and printed
our all of the articles on FORTH.
I decided to look for a FORTH compiler for OSX, and start learning the language.
It looks like there aren't many compilers for OSX. I decided to go with gForth.
I'm running on Mavericks, BTW,
After running ./configure in the source distribution, many of the following:
"Report this to https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/
?func=addbug&group=gforth "
I've posted a bug report on savannah.gnu.org, but there
han't been any activity in the FORTH project since before June of 2016.
I don't have high hopes of seeing this working soon.
Do you have any recommendations for other FORTH compilers for OSX?
I can SSH to my Raspberry Pi and install FORTH there too, if I really have to.
thanks
Tony
