Hello,
A lot of people complain about the "stupid" vi or emacs or
pico or ed when they are shoved into using GNU/Linux and seeing a
Terminal for the first time in their life but that should not be a
deterrent to not using GNU/Linux, well if you are a programmer and
want something similar to the Borland or NetBeans IDE why dont you try
it out.
http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Devtools/ides.html
Check out this link and install the ones you like. In all probability
it will already be there in the repo. Maybe the labs can go around
having swank IDEs and then people can choose what they want.
In the end using a GUI or a non GUI enviroment is a personal choice
after all isnt it ?
Regards,
Vivek
