I'm not too sure myself since i've only just started the real
implementation/rewrite today, but it seems ffmpeg returns the decoded frame in
YUV format and the current partial working implementation uses OpenGL which has
some hardware accelerated matrix conversion functions. But for the other
renderers we will most likely just have to rely on standard software
conversion, and pass the frame as a you mentions.
