[Gnash-dev] how to troubleshoot? (gnash on NetBSD)

I am trying to use gnash-0.8.5 on NetBSD/amd64 5.0_RC3.

I can use gtk-gnash to play testsuite/movies.all/gravity.swf and see a
bouncing yellow face ball.

I copied the plugin into my ~/.mozilla/plugins/ and using firefox
about:plugins showed it.

I wasn't able to get any flash to work. Some partially drew some output.
Some hung. I could right click and get the gnash menu, but couldn't run or
hear anything. firefox became sluggish and then unusable.

I saw I had a gtk-gnash.core core dump, but my corresponding binary was
strip and then I looked in source and saw it was not built with -g for
debugging symbols and strips the binaries.

So before I provide backtraces and debugging logs, please let me know what
types of information is needed:

- what debug levels and settings for my ~/.gnash*rc files?

- how to build gnash correctly so it includes debugging information (I am
now building with CFLAGS=-g set in configure environment so now -g is in
the Makefiles for CFLAGS).

- what tests should I run? How to use testsuite?

- what are the standard troubleshooting steps and information I should
provide to you?
