Hi there,
I'm the author of the Lightspark project, which is an alternative open source
flash player with a very good, although not complete yet, support for AS3 and
flex of course. Lightspark is not yet mature enough to be used in a production
environment, or included in distros, but please keep an eye on the project.

In the current status the AS3 virtual machine is stable enough to run a basic
flex example, and I'm currently working on more complex flex applications and
the new AS3 based youtube player
Cheers,
Alessandro
