Ah!, I see now. I thought that i686-pc-mingw32-g++ was a compiler flag  
and not a different compiler.

It seems indeed that I dont have the cross compiling capabilities of  
mingw packages installed as they are only provided for Fedora and not  
for Ubuntu.
