quick search (

) reveals a possibility, #6108 (http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/6108).
It refers to XMPP, which is the Google Talk protocol.

I would start by checking Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) to see if the bug is
present. If so, I would file against Launchpad. Either way, you could
contribute to the Pidgin Trac bug I mentioned before.
