I'm often forced to ride on the far right of a busy road which is usually littered with objects that can puncture a tire and tube.
I like these glasses from Performance because of its large flat surface area for attaching the mirror I recommend above.
With some of the great safety gear available, I actually feel more visible to motorists riding at night instead of during the day. They also help with the cold air in the winter, and save your eyes from the dangerous UV coming from the sun. Just make sure you have it tied together with a tube or it could jump out on a rough ride. I ride my mountain bike because I like its comfort and flexibility on terrain.
You can always throw this in your commuter bag or camel back if you are a mountain biker.
I also like the way they are designed. The cooler weather in the morning can become uncomfortable if all we have in our biking wardrobe are shorts and a short sleeve jersey.
This tool kit should keep you covered for a while.
This tool kit should keep you covered for a while. You might be on a mountain bike that has disc brakes, you probably will want a tool with a torx wrench. I recommend glueless patches which work great as long as they are kept dry.
They don't get as hot as you might think and offer the hand full protection. Bicycle maintenance is not an impossible endeavor like car maintenance.
You have a couple of choices with racks.
I usually have singletrack on my way to work so I would rather have my storage on my back than my bike.

Here is the bag that I use. Wouldn't it be great if you knew enough about common bicycle issues so you could take care of them yourself? They are fingerless, allowing your hands to grip small things easier.
That's the beauty of the bicycle; it is relatively a simple machine. There are so many factors that come into play when looking for a good lock, that this really needs to be an article on its own.
I have a pair of shoes that I leave at work which reduces the weight.
You might be lucky and not have to hitch a ride to work or call your boss to come pick you up, but you are still going to have to leave your bike in the shop for a couple of days. I also like the way they are designed.
Most importantly I don't have a bike that I use strictly for commuting. Here is a great set of fall weather toe booties from performance for a great price.
This pump is cheap, but good. Most importantly I don't have a bike that I use strictly for commuting.
I can understand mirrors being a little dorky, but then again how cool are brightly colored tights?
