Please be more specific. SMS sending speed is equal, but smsd runs
continously, so there's no overhead caused by startup and shutdown
(initialisation takes some seconds!). So if you compare smsd to the
following:

    while :
    do
      echo hi | gnokii --sendsms
    done

smsd will be _much_ faster.
