Why only in GSM? Will be it my problem?

Hi guys,
    You might remember me a time ago. I was with a lot of problems with
NOKIA phones because don't get a incoming call procedure.
    I thought my cable (builded through schematic found on the web) was the
problem, so found this information in a cable seller web site:
"The Data Cable are designed for Nokia
5110,5130,5190,6110,6130,6138,6150,6190,6210,7110 ONLY
## The cable works with GSM 900,1800 or 1900 phones only, but NOT TDMA nor
CDMA phones##"

Anyone knows why only GSM work with this cable?
