5110 + Gnokii 0.5.2 + MBUS -> no go

I'm trying to get a 5110 running using a home built interface from
nuukiaworld. I'm currently using the MBUS only interface here
http://www.panuworld.net/nuukiaworld/hardware/cables/mbus.htm. It works fine
with Logomanager under Windows - sends SMSes, reads SIM card etc.

I've tried converting it to FBUS but that doesn't work either.

My gnokii config file (minus comments to make it smaller) is:

[global]
port = /dev/ttyS1
model = 5110
initlength = default
connection = m2bus
bindir = /usr/local/sbin/
use_locking = yes
serial_baudrate = 9600
#serial_write_usleep = 10000
#handshake = software
#require_dcd = 1

I have tried basically every option for connection. Any ideas where to
start? I'm simply getting errors like these:

Serial device: opening device /dev/ttyS1
Serial device: setting speed to 9600
Serial device: setting RTS to high and DTR to low
Message sent: 0x40 / 0x0004
00 01 64 01                                     |   d
Serial device: setting RTS to low and DTR to low
Serial device: setting RTS to high and DTR to low
SM_Block Retry - 0
Message sent: 0x40 / 0x0004
00 01 64 01                                     |   d
Serial device: setting RTS to low and DTR to low
Serial device: setting RTS to high and DTR to low

Or does Logomanager do things differently to Gnokii? I can't seem to find a
straight answer on whether I must have MBUS or FBUS or both.

Thanks
Christian
