Are you sure, you read README?

gnokiid is designed only for Nokia 61X0 and Nokia 51X0 supported by nk6100
driver. In other words, it is just for the phones that support data
transmission, but don't support AT commands. Nokia 3510i is much newer
phone and is supported by nk6510 driver. Nokia does not produce such
phones as 61x0 and 51x0 anymore. So either 3510i supports data
transmission *and* AT commands (in such case you don't need gnokii for net
access) or neither of these. It's your call to find out (connect with
minicom and type AT, if it answers OK, then is't good, otherwise probably
not).
