Oops, I kept meaning to and only just got around to it.

My phonebook is now 174 entries and I get:
v0.4.3: average 36s
v0.6.0: average 35s

Only on four attempts and fairly rough and ready stats but I don't see
any real speed issue.  Certainly not as much as you did.
