running gnokii in a virtual machine

Hi,

Just wondering has anyone managed to run gnokii in a virtual Linux
environment?

Currently I have a virtual Linux machine running CentOS 4.3 on Microsoft
Virtual Server R2 platform using gnokii 0.6.12 version. The Nokia 5110 is
connected to the virtual server via the serial comm port 1.

gnokii --identify works only when 'debug=on' otherwise you'll get a
timed-out error.
gnokii --dialvoice <phone number> also works only with 'debug=on'.
gnokii --sendsms always fails with a timed-out error regardless of the
setting of the debug flag.

Set up an identical environment using a real Linux server as opposed to a
virtual machine and everything works.

I suspect it could be something to do with comms latency between the
physical device (Nokia) and the virtual serial port.

Any workaround or suggestions are much appreciated.

Cheers,
Tommy
