[Gnoppix-devel] is gnoppix a knoppix derivative ?

on the KnoppixCustomizations page

it lists gnoppix as a 'customization' of knoppix, but nowhere on the 
gnoppix.org site do i see mention of this. 

was gnoppix derived from knoppix ? (that is, was it remastered from a 
knoppix image?)  or was it simply taken straight from debian ?
