I will fix it, but I disagree that's a bug.  The user input validation 
produces better behavior than no validation, it's just slower than it 
could be.  Since this was also the behavior in 1.2.1, and since it's 
disputable whether it's a bug, I don't know whether we'll cut a new 
release candidate for 1.2.2.  It will be in 1.2.3 for sure.
