If anyone is interested in my "interpretation request" on this topic, see: http://www.cobolportal.com/j4/files/04-0224.doc OBVIOUSLY, this only applies to the '02 Standard and NOT to how NULL (nulls) is implemented today by various vendors - as an extension to the '85 Standard.
