Introduction ============ The original twogtp.py script was written by Inge Wallin (August 2002), based on a previous Perl version. The Python script twogtp1or2.py plays two GTP-compliant Go engines against each other. I have been using it to play games between Gnu Go, Amigoplus, Wallyplus and Badukiplus. This is a slightly modified version from the one shipped with Gnu Go 3.3.6, in the sense that: - It asks the engine which version of the GTP protocol it is using and accomodates either version 1 or 2, and - I fixed a small bug in the SGF output code in the original source. - It uses final_score instead of estimate_score. In principle this script is an improved, drop-in replacement for the original twogtp.py. Usage ===== The command line to play Gnu Go as White against Amigoplus as Black, is e.g.: ./twogtp1or2.py --white './gnugo --mode gtp --quiet' --black './amigoplus -gtp' --boardsize 19 --komi 5.5 --handicap 4 --sgffile test --verbose 2 The game will be saved in sgf format in the file test001.sgf, created in the same directory as the python script. (assuming gnugo, amigoplus and twogtp1or2.py are in the same directory) Similarly, to play Amigoplus as White against Wallyplus as Black: ./twogtp1or2.py --white './amigoplus -gtp' --black './wallyplus -gtp' --boardsize 9 --komi 5.5 --sgffile test1 --verbose 2 (assuming wallyplus, amigoplus and twogtp1or2.py are in the same directory) etc... Caveats ======= Note that some game engines do not accept or do not play well at "uncommon" board sizes or with excessive handicaps.
