hey guys.
i thought of a simple feature that any Go playing program should have.
blindfold playing mode. in this mode, the computer will not display
the board position. moves are flashed only briefly.
i think the computer can be the perfect blindfold playing partner.
i've found playing 9x9 blindfold a useful way to train reading or
visualization ability. but it is not easy to find human opponents
to play that way often enough. even playing the computer at 7x7
would be good training -- about the size of some life-n-death problems.
if and when GnuGo has a decent life-n-death solver, then the blindfold
playing mode can also be used to construct a great training tool. the
human player can click thru a variation and be quizzed about various
properties, like number of liberty of stones, without being able to see
the position displayed.
