Maybe the easiest thing to do (rather than setting up GNU Go to play
via apache, or setting up a NNGS server) is to use Jago on both ends.
It supports network play AFAIK (I think it's in the menu "Partner"). I have
never tried this, but it has been mentioned on rec.games.go.
