Yes, under

        GNUmed > Preferences > User interface > Person > Immediate source 
activation

after I responded and selected the default button

        "yes"
        (If there is only on e patient source available do you want GNUmed
        to immediately go ahead and search for the matching patient records)

then upon selecting

        Person >Load external

it will jump immediately to the exiting person (if there is only one match).

Now when I do

        Load external

If the name /dob did not exist, their identity is created without user input, 
and they are set in focus, and each time

        Person > Load external

is selected it makes a new person. I had changed all the previous person's last 
names but now have 3 more with identical lastname, firstname, sex, dob...
