has already been fixed and has been released with GNUmed 1.8.19:

        FIX: export area: exception on browsing export dir
        FIX: export area: allow removing remote/empty/stale DIRENTRYs
        FIX: episodes: do not auto-tinker with open state of existing episodes

You might want to upgrade and try again !
