Ah btw I know the exact history for the Open64's front-ends.
SGI compilers use the EDG front-ends. Since the code of these
front-ends were not written by SGI they couldn't release it under
GPL. This is one of the reasons they had to hack their compiler
to use the GCC front-ends. The other reason is that they wanted
the GNU extensions (often used in the open-source community).
