Hi all,
I'm currently using gpsd to interface with my serial GPS, which is outputting GPGGA and GPRMC NMEA sentences every second along with a 1PPS output. gpsd is connected to chrony through a socket interface (both are running as root), and this setup serves to set the time on my computer's clock.
This setup works well until the GPS' fix is lost, after which chrony no longer uses the 1PPS signal as a source of timing. The computer is also not connected to any network, so it can't rely on other chimers. My GPS unit is also driven by an OCXO, so theoretically the 1PPS signal should still be accurate when the fix is lost.
Is gpsd doing something to tell chrony not to use the GPS or 1PPS data when a fix can't be achieved? Is there a way I can force this gpsd/chrony interface to work without a 3D fix?
Similar results occur when using ntpd. I'm new to the list, first time poster. Any help is appreciated!
From,
Alex
