Hi,

I have a strange issue with gpsd and the automatic driver selection using
a u-blox6 based GPS device connected via RS232. First of all - it works.
Out of the box and I'm amazed. However, there is a slight thing that
annoys me a little.

Apparently, the device can be handled either by the generic NMEA driver or
by the u-blox driver available in gpsd. However, it appears to use one or
the other randomly. This wasn't an issue until I tried using gpsd as a
time source for ntp and I realized, that the times differ by 4 seconds
depending on the driver used. Using the u-blox driver, the time is pretty
close to what it should be, with NMEA it is about 4 seconds behind.

Is there a way to force the use of the u-blox driver? I tried using gpsctl
(directly and via gpsd) with the option to set to binary mode but this
doesn't work. If I use gpsmon in direct mode and reinitialize the driver
(using command 'i') several times it will eventually use the u-blox
driver. But that isn't an option for me.

I'm open for any suggestions.

Best regards,
Karsten
