Did you try it several times, until gpsctl identified the GPS as u-blox binary.

As expected. gpsctl is pretty passive at trying to ID the GPS.  Since
the GPS was only sending NMEA, it assumed it was native NMEA. that is
why gpsctl has the -t option.

So am I...  I'm also having greif with the gpsd -b option so that it
will let my override stick.
