As expected. gpsctl is pretty passive at trying to ID the GPS. Since
the GPS was only sending NMEA, it assumed it was native NMEA. that is
why gpsctl has the -t option.

So am I... I'm also having greif with the gpsd -b option so that it
will let my override stick.
