I'd favour introducing a new troff escape sequence for glyph colours.
Say \G[glyphcolour,pagecolour] and \G[glyphcolour]
and \GP which returns to the previous colour combination.
We'd then need to add a command to the ditroff repertoire
x G glyphcolour,pagecolour
and, gulp, modify grops and family (someone..)
The preprocessor, tbl might be altered to include a new column command
g,G using same syntax as the w,W minimum width specifier.
Tbl could also have a colour commands in the table descriptions section:
color(glyphcolour,pagecolour), and maybe a framecolor(glyphcolour)
[w.r.t grohtml tbl would emit html markers]
PIC could be extended to fill using colours. The grey shade option
could be extended to recognise page colour, perhaps using the syntax
mentioned by Werner.
likewise comments please,
Gaius
