I have some experience with cloning repositories, but not really with building 
software. I tried installing but unsuccesfully, will try more later. But it
would be nice to be able to solve the problem under 1.23.0.

By this, you mean the latest version, right? Because trying to manually set the
hyphenation codes even after using the .mso latin2.tmac request still gives the
same "hyphenation code must be ordinary character" error on 1.23.0.

I would love to contribute Hungarian support for groff! If we manage to solve 
this problem, I'd be glad to do the translation.
