I just got a similar, but not quite same error:

grafting '/gnu/store/mqlhrs9xj7rdnm3apzj2las4fr84i3gy-git-2.13.4' -> 
'/gnu/store/7kfijk9k2vq7c9bg6zy2pb2xpzs6s5b0-git-2.13.4'...
ERROR: In procedure put-bytevector: Wrong type argument in position 1 
(expecting open output port): #<closed: file 91ef50>

This is on 'core-updates'.
