building 2.0.2 on hpux 10.2

Has anyone gotten this to work?  If so, did you come across linker errors,
specifically "unsatisfied symbols"?  

working with gcc-2.95.2 (trying to upgrade to 3.1), make-3.77 (trying to get to
3.79), the latest autoconf, automake, flex, bison, trying to get libtool-1.4.2
to build, and for some strange reason /usr/ccs/bin/ld.  Isn't there supposed to
be a gnu linker?
