To get mail sent to the right location, primarily. Also to avoid
multiple or over-reporting of errors, and avoidance of mailing blank
lines from offending shellcommands ... generally speaking, mailing
to root from cron is messy an dit is not easy to see which machine it
came from. cfexecd in cron mode is just a wrapper. In daemon mode
it will also be able to do advanced scheduling, when I ever get the
time to write that code.
