I'm getting the following message when running cfengine 2.1.0b5 on a
RedHat 9 machine (works fine on RedHat 7.3):
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
* (Changing context state to: update) *
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Looking for an input file /var/cfengine/inputs/update.conf
cf:cfengine::/var/cfengine/inputs/update.conf:56: DNS lookup failure.
Unknown host
Culprit: servername.eg.bucknell.edu
Make sure that fully qualified names can be looked up at your site!
i.e. www.gnu.org, not just www. If you use NIS or /etc/hosts
make sure that the full form is registered too as an alias!
gethostbyname: : Inappropriate ioctl for device
(NOTE: I changed the "Culprit" hostname; it does resolve properly.)
This worked fine (if I remember correctly) when we were running version
2.0.4 (had to upgrade because of pre 2.0.8 security bugs in cfservd and
had to upgrade to beta version because of previous problem:
http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/help-cfengine/2003-09/msg00162.html).
I've tried adding the server information to the /etc/hosts file (even
though that shouldn't be necessary) but it didn't help.
Let me know if there's more/better information I can provide. Thanks in
advance!
