reading over a piece on cfengine at O'Reilly, the importance of
matching domain names was stressed. I don't have a case where I plan
to use cfengine in multiple domains, but I discovered that none of
the systems I am trying to get cfengine working on -- at a publicly
accessible site in a colocation facility and here at my house -- have
domainname set. They have a valid FQDN and are in the hosts file with
both the FQDN and their hostname, but if I were to run /bin/
domainname, I get bupkis.
(22:16:42 <~>) 0 # domainname
(22:16:43 <~>) 0 # /bin/hostname
int0.*******.com
(22:16:57 <~>) 0 #
I set the domain name in the *.conf files, so it's not like there is
a mismatch there. But if the internals of cfengine are trying to pull
out a domainname programmatically, am I doomed?
