I'm trying to compile 4.1.0 now and encountered the following in the last lines of running "make all info":

...
makeinfo -I . -o gnats.info gnats.texi
make[1]: makeinfo:  Command not found
make[1]: *** [gnats.info] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/local/src/gnats-4.1.0/doc'
make: *** [all-gnats] Error 2

Is it important or not? Maybe this was the cause of my previous troubles?

On what platform?  BSD?  Linux?  Mac OS X?  Windows?  4.1.0 is the
latest stable.  Could you try that one?  I'll try to look closer at
the strace later today.
