Line number info in executable file

Hello friends,

   I want decode line number to machine address(I know
the starting address). If anybody knows it please
reply me.

For example 
if u give break 17 at gdb prompt it tells breakpoint
inserted at ADDRESS. How to get line number info from
executable file.
