I understand.  There are specifications, and everything that isn't
specified cannot be guaranteed.

So how do _you_ know?  Was this published in some gcc changelog, or
have you run into a similar problem in the past? Are you in the habit
of disassembling unit test suites or reading the gcc source or
something?
