Ok, try this change in console-client/. I was a bit too optimistic about
VGA cards. Everybody else around me already figured out that you had to set
read and write registers, even if you are not doing both.

* vga-support.c (vga_read_write_font_buffer): New function. It
turns out that reading and writing needs the same register
settings.
(vga_write_font_buffer): Implement in terms of
vga_read_write_font_buffer.
(vga_read_font_buffer): Likewise.
